Preparations for the second edition of the festival Krafft are in full swing. The various film events for all generations and all genres will take place June 14th–19th in the old town centre of Kranj. The festival that is dedicated entirely to the art of film acting is the first of its kind in the region.
Our designer Jan Virant has again taken care of our festival’s visual recognizability, changing the colour palette from last year’s green and orange to a (Carniolan) red and (summer) blue, leaving a special mark on Krafft’s visual image.
The aims of the festival remain the same: offer new and fresh outstanding international film acting achievements. Bring talented and world-renowned actors and top-notch film experts to Slovenia to share their stories, knowledge and experience with us. Showcase the creative potential of the Slovenian dance film. Open up debates on topics that are immediately or tangentially related to film acting, actors, dance film and dance creators in audiovisual works.
What to expect from the second edition of Krafft
The focus of the festival remains the competition program with the gala Golden Apple awardceremony for the best acting achievements, a review of awarded cinema from esteemed European film festivals, a selection of remarkable Slovenian dance film, and industry events, complete with a diverse program of accompanying events.
The competition program will be selected by our selectors from among the new world film production of the last two years, with an emphasis on films that have been awarded at the film festivals in Berlin and Rotterdam. Aside from that, Krafft will also screen a selection of awarded cinemafrom the festivals in Venice, Cannes and San Sebastián.
The industry talks will mainly revolve around the topics related to the filming of intimate scenes, delving into the questions of different kinds of sexual abuse and sexual exploatation in the film world. A portion of the industry events will also focus on the creative work of dancers and choreographers in audiovisual framework.
Let’s keep the identity of the honorary guest of the second edition of Krafft a secret for now!
Special attention will again be paid to the achievements of Slovenian actors and audiovisual dance creators. As last year, the first day of the festival will see the Screen Actors Guild of Slovenia (DSI) and the Dance Workers Section (SPU) present their guild awards: the DSI awards (Ita Rina, the Close-Up, the Cartoon Voice, the Reverse Shot) and the SPU awards (LOK).
As well as that, Krafft will offer a host of panels with local and international film actors, as well as exhibitions, workshops and social events. Talking about social events–do you know the author and performer of the song “Ona sanja” from the title credits of the Slovenian crime series Jezero? Browse through your memory, or on the web–for that is the band that you can come listen to on one of the festival nights!
