Small, Slow But Steady is a minimalist and subtle film about a courageous and determined boxer from the outskirts of Tokyo; a film about the disintegration of community and social bonds and the disappearance of ancient crafts and trades that have been, among other things, affected by the pandemic of covid-19. It is a film that is on the one hand inspired by Rocky, and on the other hand, a deep homage to the greatest Japanese film masters.
