EVENTS AT THE FESTIVAL
There is an abundance of events at KRAFFT: the gala programme (the formal opening and closing night with the award ceremony), film screenings outside the competition (retrospectives, projections honouring the guests of the festivals), meets and talks with actors, exhibitions, workshops, music nights and other social events.
With a selected programme of children’s, young adult and dubbed animated film screenings as well as workshops and talks carefully curated to fit different age groups, KRAFFT pays special attention to our young visitors.

THE OPENING OF THE KRAFFT FESTIVAL
The opening ceremony with DSI awards and the screening of The Human Voice
At the opening ceremony, the first ever edition of the KRAFFT festival will be launched by its key contributors.
The Screen Actors Guild of Slovenia (DSI) will present awards to the dancers and actors who have left a special mark with their accomplishments in audiovisual work in the last two years. The brightest stars of the evening will of course be the winners of the life achievement awards.
After the screening of the short film The Human Voice (2021) which combines the forces of the Spanish cineast Pedro Almodovar and one of the best actresses of our time, Tilda Swinton, there will follow a relaxed evening of socializing and celebrating the new international film festival.

A conversation about actor Peter Musevski and his work
Last year, the prolific Slovenian actor Peter Musevski passed away. With his wide-reaching, brilliant opus, he left an important mark on Slovenian film, TV and theater. Having worked in Prešeren Theatre Kranj, he was also a significant contributor to the cultural life in Kranj. Peter will be remembered in this warm conversation about his professional and personal life as perceived by our guests, Primož Pirnat and Damjan Kozole, good friends of Peter’s.

The reception of the honorary members of DSI and a talk with the winner of the life achievement award, Ivo Barišič
DSI looks forward to the reception of the most esteemed actors who have contributed to work in film and television in a pioneering way, paving the way to contemporary audiovisual production.
With a few excerpts from their opus we shall briefly visit the time of black and white images, presenting the honorary members with accolades and honoring them with a film music medley.
After the ceremony, there will follow a screening of short films of this year’s Ita Rina life achievement award winner, Ivo Barišič. After the screening, Marcel Štefančič, jr. will moderate a discussion with him.

INTO FOCUS AT KRAFFT
In collaboration with KINO! magazine
How to understand play? Play is when children chase around the park; and chess is play; play is something that is easy; and play is what actors do in films too.
To better understand the many hues of play, KINO! Society for Expanding Film Culture organizes a workshop on film criticism at the first edition of KRAFFT on June 18 and 19.
Participants will delve deeply into film discussions and draft short texts, this time with special emphasis on the commonly overlooked element of film – acting.
The workshop is facilitated by Dr Maja Krajnc, editor-in-chief of the magazine KINO!, with Kristian Božak Kavčič assisting.

HANG ON, DOGGY!
Workshop for children
How to select the right dog suitable for filming? How to prepare a dog to act in front of the camera? What tricks must the dog know?
In this 90-minute workshop, children can act out a few of the scenes from the film Hang on Doggy!together with a very special dog and see the process for themselves on their very own “fur”! They can try being a dog coach or a dog’s fellow actor!
Children who are at least seven years old are warmly invited to join us for this fun workshop!

The closing event of the festival with the Golden Apple awards ceremony
The festival will wrap up with a video review of the festival week and a declaration of the best actors in the KRAFFT 2021 competition programme as selected by the festival jury members Dragan Bjelogrlić, Bernarda Oman and Marko Mandić.
There will follow a talk with the winners of the Golden Apple awards.
The international honorary guest of the festival will receive an honorary Golden Apple award at the closing ceremony.
